MELT Method

If you are unfamiliar with MELT, it is a wonderful self-treatment method created by renowned neuromuscular therapist and fascia researcher, Sue Hitzmann as homework for her patients. Through a carefully coordinated series of movements on a soft body roller and specially designed balls, MELT draws fluids into the connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, bone, joint and organ in the body. With proper hydration in this system, the muscles work better, the joints have the support and space that they need, and the whole body finds a more ideal upright alignment to absorb the shocks and stresses of life.

MELT was added to our programming 6 years ago because it is miraculous! It is a complement to your Pilates practice and a perfect starting point for any exercise program. MELT is truly for everyone! It is easy to learn, backed by cutting -edge research and offers immediate results that you see and feel the first time you MELT. And your body feels great long after you MELT!

MELT Performance

MELT Performance is a hybrid of MELT rehydrating techniques and MELT Neurostrength movements (similar to neuromuscular therapy in a group setting). Through a sequence of movements on the MELT roller we first work to hydrate the fascia and improve posture. We then immediately perform carefully designed strength moves to unwind compensatory patterns and stabilize the newly improved alignment of your body.  By supporting and activating the correct neuromuscular pathways, the combination of these two programs improves stability, balance and athletic performance, thereby reducing the risk of injury.

Plus, it feels really good!

“I recently had the pleasure of studying at Lisalates.  My first observation was how charming and beautiful the studio was!  It is a quintessential Nantucket cottage!  Tucked back off the beaten path with flowers and birds and a sweet resident, cat.  It’s truly a haven!  Then I met Lisa, her loving, bright and friendly personality parallels the outer appearance of the charming cottage. Through her coaching style she facilitates friendships and camaraderie.  She empowers students to be better and stronger.  She carries a passion for movement and it shows!” - Tara
